Job Summary
Reporting to the Student Success Center's director, our academic success specialists focus on assisting academically at-risk students. Proactively and/or upon referral, specialists co-develop and implement success strategies to address individual student needs. Intensive monitoring of student progress is required. Our specialists also conduct workshops on learning strategies and other academic success techniques.

Responsibilities*
Student Interaction:
- Conduct focused academic intervention activities with referred students, using various modalities to promote student engagement and strengthen skill development
- Monitor the academic progress of referred students
- Create a welcoming environment where students can safely develop ownership of their educational progress
Planning & Assessment:
- Identify potential high-risk students based on indicators available at the time of matriculation to the university and thereafter
- Collaborate with academic advisors and faculty to develop criteria for academic intervention referrals
- Develop individualized success plans for referred students
- Provide regular progress updates to the referring academic advisor and faculty member(s)
- Facilitate secondary referral to internal and/or external support services
- Use designated university systems to maintain documentation on student success plans, interactions, and progress
Related Student Retention and Recruitment Activities:
- Contribute to the development of multi-modal student success workshops and presentations
- Serve as a member of the University Academic Advising Committee
- Participate in additional internal and external collaborative opportunities to promote student success
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Three or more years of relevant experience, comprised of one or more years of experience teaching at the high school or collegiate level, and/or two or more years of experience as an academic advisor or success coach
- Comfortable conducting presentations in face-to-face and online modalities
- Experience with Canvas or other online learning management platforms, online scheduling interfaces, and video conferencing systems
- Basic or above proficiency with spreadsheet applications (Excel or Google Sheets)
Work Schedule
Hybrid:
A hybrid work schedule (some days on campus and some days working remotely) is available for this position at this time. However, this is subject to change based on the responsibilities of the position and the needs of the department.
